  ……..the Power of Magical Number

Although I don’t believe much in numerology, sometimes some numbers show their ‘nu-miracle’ power. As the title suggests, we are exploring the magical story of the mighty number 183.

Historical moment of Indian Cricket: Indian Skipper Kapil Dev lifting World cup -1983

So, our story begins here… It was 1983 (the year includes numbers 1-8-3). India was not a very strong contender to win the World Cup. In the previous two editions of the World Cup, India could manage just one victory, that too against East Africa, which was not a very seasoned team. It was obvious that Indian cricket lovers were not so optimistic about the Indian team’s performance in the 1983 ODI World Cup. But miracles do happen. India defeated strong opponents like the West Indies, England, and Australia and witnessed a historical moment with their captain, Kapil Dev, lifting the trophy. In the final game, India scored that magical number, 183. Although it was not a big score, India managed to win the game comfortably by 43 runs… and the story continued…

Prince of Kolkata Or King of Taunton ?

India’s one of the most stylish left-handers – Sourav Ganguly scored 183 against Sri Lanka in the World Cup in 1999. India defeated the defending champions by a huge margin and entered the Super Six round. Later, the ‘Prince of Kolkata’ became the King of the Indian side to lead the young Indian team.

183 by MSD – highest runs by wicketkeeper in ODI

The magic of the mystical number 183 was yet to show a few more miracles. This time, MS Dhoni experienced the mystery of 183. While playing in a bilateral series against Sri Lanka, the Indian would-be ‘captain cool’ scored 183 while chasing a mammoth total of 298. Similar to our previous story, the hero of this story also became the captain of the Indian Cricket team.

Miracle in Mirpur- India chased 329 (Virat 183*)

As if this wasn’t enough, yet another youngster was ready to manifest the magical power of ‘183’. Virat Kohli, one of the most promising youngsters, smashed 183 against arch-rival Pakistan in the Asia Cup at Mirpur. This heroic effort made the mountain of 329 runs look like a tiny hill. Once again, glorious history repeated itself, and like our previous heroes, Virat became the skipper of Men in Blue.

Certainly, the number ‘183’ is a lucky charm for Team India and its skippers. So, for any of the young Indian cricketers reading this piece of information, the success mantra for you is very simple. Score 183 in ODIs, and soon you will be wearing the blue ‘Crown of Thorns’.
